Commercial photographer from KwaNongidi in KwaZulu-Natal, the uncle of Lethkukhanye Mjaji, also known as Miss Albany, recently fearlessly confronted the bread manufacturer on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter).

At the age of three, Lethkukhanye Mjaji became popular overnight after her uncle, Lungisani Mjaji, shot and released charming images of her carrying a loaf of Albany bread.

According to The Citizen, Albany sent the little girl toys, loaves of food, and other items. Umuziwabantu Municipality is also claimed to have given over an R5000 cheque to Lethukukhanya. Parmalat also announced on social media that they would be sending the little girl 100 litres of custard.

The little girl’s uncle recently told X that he and his niece supposedly did not receive recompense “from that thing”. Lungisani stated that he continues to create lovely images and that he does his best to support the young one.

“We received no compensation from the Albany incident. Let us debunk the illusion that we benefited from it. We’ve moved on, we’re creating, and I’m confident that God will direct our path. “I’ll personally support the child with what little I have,” he stated. “Ubuntu abusekho [there is no more ubuntu],” he went on to say.

According to TshisaLIVE, Lungisani has secured sponsorship from Xiaomi South Africa. He is also alleged to have gotten himself a new phone with a “excellent camera” for those quick behind-the-scenes material shots.

“Passion is essential for pursuing photography as a job. It’s more than just an option for studying… [This year], I’m engaging with Nikon South Africa on workshops and content creation. Nikon’s assistance enables me to realize my dream of leading the way for the future generation of photographers,” he was quoted as adding.

The bread company called out online.

Mysterious good Samaritan BI Phakathi, well known for his viral films in which he is seen showering those in need with cash, has also stepped in and utilized his power to call out the bread brand. BI Phakathi decided to use his popular social media platform to call on Albany Bread to “do the right thing”.

“@LoveAlbanyBread “It’s 2024, people are woke from branded lies and free advertising; do the right thing for the child, that’s all we ask,” the beloved philanthropist wrote.
