Champions actor Sello Maake kaNcube has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife Pearl Mbewe.
According to Sunday World, the former The Queen actor and his wife separated last year.
MAKE KANCUBE AND WIFE’S MARITAL WOES
A source told the publication that the couple, who married in 2021, had an altercation regarding Maake kaNcube’s claimed former partner, which led to the actor chasing Mbewe out of their marital house in Dube, Soweto.
The former partner is said to be Cynthia Hlahla, also known as Lacoste, with whom Maake KaNcube was supposedly flirting. According to Sunday World, the Skeem Saam star inquired about Hlahla’s relationship status via text message. He apparently also told her that she is constantly on his mind. However, Hlahla allegedly did not believe his story.
“She said he was only pretending to love her, but she knew he was in love with Pearl.” She even begged him to be honest with her and tell her whether he wanted her to help him leave South Africa for the United States rather than lying about having feelings for her,” according to the source.
MAAKE KANCUBE CONFIRMS CONTACT WITH DIVORCE LAWYERS
After Maake kaNcube’s wife walked out, the actor reportedly attempted to renew their relationship by sending a delegation to pay the remaining lobolo for her; however, Mbewe declined his efforts.
After failing to win Mbewe back, the actor sought assistance from Swanepoel van Zyl Attorneys in filing for divorce. According to reports, the firm requested an upfront payment of R25,000.
Maake KaNcube told Sunday World he had contacted the law firm.
“I have not even paid them yet,” he replied.
Previous marriage
Maake kaNcube previously married Palesa Mboweni in 2015, but the couple split eight months later.
The Pretoria High Court ordered the ex-couple to divide and distribute their wealth equally in 2022 because they were married in community of property.
Maake KaNcube responded in an Instagram post, saying, “I can’t believe I was married to a con artist and you guys called me names when I realized my mistake and divorced her after eight months!
“I’m not pursuing this case to trash my ex-wife; I want the truth to be known so that I may help young men who may fall prey to ladies like my ex-wife.
“For the record, I must declare emphatically that I do not believe all women behave or act in the same way that my ex-wife did toward me.
“Just be careful and conduct an independent character assessment before committing to someone. The shares are irrelevant to me; this marriage was defective and founded on untruth from the start, and my ex-wife’s misrepresentation is even more vile than the things she did. I mean, the woman attempted to change her children’s surnames to mine without my knowing, and I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t overheard a phone call between her and her mother.
